Mini split heat pumps require normal cleaning of air filters, each indoor unit should have 2 filters that require inspection/cleaning every two weeks, regular cleaning will prevent stubborn dust particles from accumulating on filters which will restrict air flow through unit , which promotes cleaner stronger air flow through installation area, a deep cleaning is recommended annually , as for the outside unit with the wind we get on the east coast it is usually kept clean by wind passing through unit .
